The pleasure of being a doctor, “this combination of heart, hand and mind”, this commitment to preserving the patient’s joints for as long as possible as well as achieving innovations with his team are the decisive factors in the varied practice of Alex E. Staubli, MD and member of the FMH (Foederatio Medicorum Helveticorum) for Orthopedic Surgery.
In his long-term position as head of the Department of Orthopedics at the Cantonal Hospital in Luzern, Switzerland, he has—together with his team—developed a special therapeutic method and surgical technique, which are nowadays employed throughout the world in order to keep the patients’ joints functioning.
The Cantonal Hospital in Luzern, Switzerland, was awarded the Innovation Prize by the Chamber of Commerce of Central Switzerland as well as the Recognition Prize of the AO Technical Commission for the development of the TomoFix system that is used to correct malalignments of the leg, namely bowlegs or knock-knees.
As a member of an international team of experts (Knee Expert Group of AO International), Alex E. Staubli is committed to the development of new methods for the treatment of knee problems.
At international meetings and advanced training courses as well as through his publications, he imparts his expert knowledge to medical colleagues from all over the world.
As senior consultant, he provides support to orthopedic surgeons during interventions and imparts his know-how in the area of “juxta-articular, high-tibial osteotomies”.
